Working horses, donkeys, and mules are the silent lifelines of countless families across Rajasthan. They pull heavy carts, transport goods, and support livelihoods—often under harsh conditions. Since 2009, Help in Suffering has been committed to improving the lives of these hardworking animals through veterinary care, education, and community outreach.
Our veterinary teams at Durgapura and Bassi provide life-saving treatment for equines suffering from colic, lameness, fractures, maggot wounds, tumors, respiratory diseases, and chronic debility. Emergency cases are admitted at our hospital, where animals receive round-the-clock care.
We regularly organize village treatment camps and attend animal fairs such as Pushkar and Nagaur, reaching equine owners where they need us most. These camps not only provide veterinary services but also spread awareness on nutrition, farriery, and preventive care.
Regular deworming, vaccination, hoof trimming, dental checks, and proper wound management form the backbone of our preventive care.
We train local veterinarians, paravets, and farriers to recognize and manage equine health issues. By empowering communities with knowledge, we help build a sustainable culture of equine welfare.
Donkeys and mules abandoned or too ill to return to work find a safe home at our Camel & Equine Relief Centre (CRC) in Bassi, where they receive lifelong care.
The most common problems we see—lameness, harness wounds, colic, respiratory disease, and injuries—stem from overwork, lack of awareness, and poor access to veterinary care. By addressing both medical needs and owner education, we not only heal individual animals but also improve the welfare of entire equine communities.
Over the years, with the support of generous donors, HIS has treated thousands of equines—from emergency surgeries to simple yet life-changing hoof care. Each case reminds us that behind every animal is a family that depends on them.
With an experienced team of veterinarians, para-veterinary staff, rescue units, and two campuses in Jaipur and Bassi, Help in Suffering is uniquely placed to deliver equine welfare services across Rajasthan. Our history of collaboration with international partners (such as Brooke and Animal Aid Abroad) reflects both our credibility and our long-standing expertise in equine health.
Every equine we treat is a story of resilience and hope. But the need is vast, and we cannot do it alone. You can help us expand this vital program:
Donate to support life-saving veterinary care.
Volunteer your time or skills to strengthen equine welfare.
Partner with us to bring equine health and education programs to more communities.
Together, we can ensure that Rajasthan’s hardworking equines receive the dignity, care, and compassion they deserve.
